Donate your gently worn, used and new shoes today!
And the best part is it’s FREE to participate. That’s right, everyone has an old or slightly used pair of shoes they could donate , So it does not cost anything to help.
Our goal is to collect 2500 pairs of shoes by March 15, 2023.
Help us raise funds just by donating gently worn, used and new shoes! Clean out those closets, Be sure to ask, friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to donate too! Collected shoes not only help support us, but they will be reused and given a second life by those in need through #microenterprise. It’s a WIN-WIN!
According to a report from the Environmental Protection Agency, in 2015:
Textiles, including shoes and clothing, represented 16.03M tons and 65.7% of content in landfills.
In the U.S., each individual produces 4.48 pounds of daily waste, which includes shoes that are thrown away. Other realities:
Most people do not know that shoes and clothing can be repurposed.
85% of consumer textiles end up in landfills, which is extremely harmful to the environment.
Consumers are the primary reason for textiles ending up in landfills.
Approximately 50 percent of collected shoes and clothing are re-used around the world.
70 percent of the global population uses repurposed shoes and clothing.
By you helping us collect shoes you are:
Raising funds to help others in our community
Rescuing all these shoes from going into land fills
Providing help by working with over 4,000 micros-entrepreneurs and families worldwide
The shoes are re-purposed and get a new lease on life.
Outreach East is proud to announce a partnership with Meijer to provide much-needed relief to local families facing food insecurity through the retailer’s customer-driven hunger relief program, Simply Give.
With more than 34 million Americans considered food insecure nationwide, food remains a basic need that many people continue to struggle to put on their tables. Meijer is committed to addressing hunger relief at the local level through its Simply Give program, which replenishes the shelves of hundreds of local food pantries throughout the Midwest each year. The Simply Give program has been feeding hungry families in the communities Meijer serves since November 2008, thanks to the continued support and generosity of Meijer customers, team members and food pantry partners.
Learn more about how Meijer is partnering with customers to support hunger relief:
SUPPORTING LOCALFOOD PANTRIES
Current economic conditions are placing increased pressures on low-income families, food insecurity is increasing rapidly, making programs like Simply Give even more important for local food pantries.
Customers are encouraged to purchase $10 Simply Give donation cards, which are converted into Meijer food-only gift cards and given to the food pantry selected by the individual store.
The Simply Give program allows food pantries the opportunity to choose the grocery items best suited for the families they serve, as well as baby food, formula, diapers and wipes.
Each of the more than 260 Meijer stores across the Midwest partner with multiple local food pantries, keeping the money generated within the community.
Hunger relief is a corporate philanthropic focus at Meijer, in addition to diversity & inclusion, environmental and local giving.
This year in March there will be TWO double match days March 4th and March 25 where if you donate $10.00 Meijer will double match that and make it $30.00 in food cards for us! A $50.00 donation becomes $150.00 and so on. Save these dates! and triple your donation.
In light of increased need resulting from COVID-19, Meijer donated more than $7.6 million to Simply Give food pantry partners in 2020 and made an additional $1 million gift in March. Since the program began in November 2008, more than $69 million has been generated for food pantries in the Midwest to distribute to our neighbors in need.
So next time you are in the Meijer in Davison, please pick up a Simply Give Card and take it to the cashier. You really can make a difference.

Outreach East is proud to partner with the SpartanNash Foundation during its retail scan campaign to provide hunger relief in the local community. Between Oct. 26 and Nov. 6, store guests who visit the VG’s Of Davison will have the opportunity to donate $1, $5, $10 or round up their purchase at any checkout lane, with 100 percent of dollars raised going directly to Outreach East.
“With the pandemic, Outreach East greatly appreciates these extra fundraising events,” said Jan Lebert from the Outreach East. “Not being able to do our normal fundraising events for the past year has really taken a toll on some of the things that are so desperately depended on by area families. ”
Outreach East’ mission is to promote a healthy, caring and just community for all people by providing basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter; supplying crisis support, emergency services; and encouraging neighbors to help neighbors in need.
SpartanNash – which owns the Vg’s Groceries of Davison Store – underwrites the cost of the fundraising campaign so that all donations will benefit Outreach East and families in need in the local community.
“One in 6 people” said Adrienne struggles with hunger, and as little as $1 can provide up to four meals for those in need through Chance, SpartanNash vice president communications and executive director of the SpartanNash Foundation. “Each of our corporate-owned stores has hand-selected a partner pantry, so that we can work together to provide hunger relief in the communities where SpartanNash associates and our store guests live and work.”
SpartanNash distributes grocery products to independent and chain retailers in 50 states and its 146 corporate-owned retail stores in addition to fresh produce distribution. Through its MDV military division, SpartanNash is a leading distributor of grocery products to U.S. military commissaries around the world.
