The county's poverty and food insecurity rates are notably high; Genesee County's overall poverty rate is higher than the state average<\/strong>, and childhood food insecurity is also a major concern,<\/em> being higher than the Michigan state rate.<\/p>

For our children, whose development is critical, and for our growing population of seniors on fixed incomes, the cost of living\u2014especially rising food and utility prices\u2014exacerbates an already difficult situation.<\/strong> As a vital, non-denominational emergency resource center for East Genesee County<\/em>, Outreach East steps into this gap<\/strong> to provide essential support like food, clothing, utility assistance, and other resources - serving thousands of community members (over 8500) annually.<\/p>\n
